Recommended purchases:

TL;DR:

  • Buying at least enough Pixie Boots for your fighters (and possibly for everyone) is highly recommended
  • Buy Orichalcum if you have an item that needs it to upgrade and you dont want to wait for high quality grottoes
  • Buy Elfin Elixirs to save time on collecting alchemy ingredients for useful consumables
  • Dont buy Prayer Rings, Saint's Ashes or Reset stones

Full breakdown:
Prayer Rings and Saint's Ashes are both fairly easily stolen from Genie Sanguinis

  • about a 25% chance per round of getting one of the 2 items with 4 people stealing at 275 deftness (reasonable with decent deftness gloves and Utility Belts)
  • about an 18% chance per round with 4 people stealing at 0 deftness

Genie Sanguinis spawn in abundance at the entrance to the Realm of the Mighty (to access postgame use the Starflight Express, press A to land, say no to disembarking and then head to Realm of the Almighty and talk to Celestria), and are even accessible as soon as after acquiring a ship from Bloomingdale by zooming to Stornway, boarding the ship to the north and then sailing to a small island west of Coffinwell.

Elfin Elixirs are useful on their own and in alchemy, but are also fairly easy to make, assuming you occasionally collect ingredients around the world. A good purchase if you want to be able to continue using them and the Yggdrasil Dew they make to run grottoes without having to stop and gather items on the surface.

Reset Stones are very rare drops from uncommon enemies, and show up on occasion (10%) in rank 10 grotto chests. If you use the Hoimi Table to ensure Alchemiracles and dont care about Alcheminomicon completion, you will never need Reset Stones. Otherwise, unless you have rushed to alchemize the 2% grotto boss gear before you have access to Rank 10 chests, you should get more Reset stones than you can use, as the only other gear that uses them are less common (1%) drops in those same chests.

Orichalcum, similar to Reset stones, drops as a more common drop (8% and 5% in Rank 9 and 10 respectively) in grotto chests, and outside of a few exceptions (notably Erdricks gear), is used to alchemize various Metal Slime line gear (1% in Rank 9 chests), meaning you will, once you have access to those chests, get more than you can use. Unlike Reset stones, however, they have use significant use before you gain access to those chests in alchemizing Erdricks items as well as upgrading any metal slime line gear you acquire from quest completions (there are a few), both of which are among the best armor and weapons in the game. Purchase if you have an item you could upgrade with it and dont want to wait for high quality value grottoes to access those chests.

Pixie Boots and their upgraded form, Tricksie Boots, are among the best evasion footwear in the game, and THE best for those without access to the Sensible Sandals line (namely Warriors, Gladiators, and Paladins). As evasion is generally better than defence the more damage you would be taking (see evasion-vs-defence for details), and alchemizing them requires Elevating Shoes, which are useful for faster leveling and difficult to make, these are a very valuable purchase.
