162 Do Nod Disturb

A slime you met at the entrance to the Tower of Nod has asked you if you'll escort him to the top of the tower, where his friend Nodoph is sleeping.

Prerequisites: Beat the game, DLC downloaded, Quest #039: Follow That Fish! and Quest #161: Here with Nod's Tear completed.
Repeatable? No.

  • Use Sterling's whistle to fly the Starflight Express north of Coffinwell to the Tower of Nod. At the entrance, speak to the friendly slime there who will ask you to climb to the top of the tower and speak with his friend Nodoph.
  • By this point in the game, you should have no trouble with the enemies inside the tower. When you get to L7, climb the vine all the way up and interact with the monster there. The slime will then ask you to go to Gittingham Palace and find out what happened to Nodoph there. You may want to have a character that can cast Safe Passage as there are a lot of hazardous floors in the dungeon.
  • Zoom to Gittingham Palace and enter to view a short scene with a ghostly guard. The next goal is to reach the Oubliette, which is on L2 of the palace. Go east and north to exit to the courtyard in the center and make your way to the southwest entrance of the building in the center. Head north and around to reach the stairs going up. There is a healing spring on the way there if you need to heal your party.
  • On the second floor, when you try to go into the room with the electrified floor, there will be another with a ghostly councillor. The stairs going down lead to the Oubliette.
  • Make your way to B4 of the Oubliette. There will be a few ghosts on the way there you can speak to that guide you there.
  • Once you make it to B4, you will see a vision of Nodoph and a young woman named Serena. After the cutscene, you will notice a sparkle on the ground where you can pick up Nod's tear. With the tear in hand, leave the Oubliette and head to the very top of the Tower of Nod again.

You've found Nod's tear, shed by Nodoph when Serena died at Gittingham Palace three hundred years ago. Maybe it will rouse him from his centuries-long slumber.

  • When you give Nodoph the tear, he will become enraged and challenge you to a battle. If you've already been completing several grottoes, you shouldn't have much trouble defeating him.
  • Nodoph has 5,600 HP, acts twice per turn, and is very weak to both Light and Dark-elemental attacks. His most dangerous attacks are his Freezing Blizzard and his earthquake attack, both of which inflict damage to the entire party. Feel free to buff your party with Kabuff and Insulatle as he won't be able to disable them.
  • Like with the other DLC bosses, make sure to use Eye for Trouble on him to get the second page of his description, otherwise you'll have to fight him again through multiplayer to get another chance.
  • After you defeat Nodoph, the quest will be completed.
